PEPPERMINT PINWHEELS

INGREDIENTS

- 1 cup butter
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 1/2 tsp almond extract
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 2 1/2 cups flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp red food coloring
- 1 egg white
- 1 tbs water
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup crushed peppermint candy
DIRECTIONS
Cream butter, add sugar gradually
Beat in egg and flavorings
Blend in dry ingredients
Divide dough in half
Mix food coloring into one half
Chill both halves until firm
Roll half of white dough into a 8 inch square
Roll half of red dough into a 8 inch square
Place white square on top of the red square and roll into a log
Repeat with remaing dough
Wrap each roll in waxed paper and chill overnight
Cut into 1/8 inch slices
Place on greased cookie sheet
Bake at 375 for 8-10 minutes
Mix egg white and water
Brush on hot cookies
Sprinkle with sugar and peppermint candy
