  • 4 tbsp oil
  • 6 large red potatoes
  • 1 large onion
  • 3 eggs (beaten)
  • 1 tbsp matzah meal
  • 1.5 tsp salt
  • dash pepper


  • Turn oven on to 400F degrees. Grease a 9 inch square pan with 3 tablespoons of oil and put into oven. While that warms up grate the potato and onions into a bowl, add the matzha meal, salt/pepper and one tablespoon oil. Carefully add this to your hot pan and put back into the oven.
  • Reduce the heat to 350F and cook for about an hour. As the kugel cooks take the oil that bubbles up and baste the top with it.
