Someone gave me a boned turkey years ago and at the time I just wasn't sure what to do with it. I needed something for an informal gathering, and something I could do in the crock pot, and came up with this pulled turkey recipe. It is messy to eat, but oh so good!

  • 1 boneless turkey (string removed and cut into four chunks), or, a turkey breast and hefty package of thighs (ask the butcher counter to do this for you)
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup (regular or low fat-low sodium work equally well)
  • 1 diced onion
  • 1 diced rib of celery
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • Pinch of dill weed
  • 1/2 tsp Tabasco
  • Kaiser rolls (or hamburger buns/bread of choice)
  • Grated cheese and fresh onions (optional)

  • Wash turkey and pat dry
  • Place in crockpot
  • Spread cream of mushroom soup over the top of the turkey
  • Add diced onion, celery, garlic, dill weed and Tabasco
  • Cover and cook on high for at least 8 hours, or on low for at least 10 hours
  • Prior to serving, using two forks, rake across the turkey, until the meat has been shredded (do not remove turkey from crock pot to do this)
  • Scoop up a generous amount of shredded turkey and juice on Kaiser rolls and if desired add grated cheese and fresh onions
  • Note: leftovers are great reheated on rice or as a starter for a super turkey soup
