Pumpkin bread

Serves 2 loaves | Prep Time | Cook Time

Ingredients

2/3 cup vegetable shortening
2 2/3 cup sugar
4 eggs
1 can pumpkin (15 oz)
2/3 cup water
3 1/3 cup flour
2 tsp. baking soda
½ tsp. baking powder
1 ½ tsp salt
1 tsp ground cloves
½ tsp cinnamon
2/3 cup chopped nuts


Grease two 9 X 5 loaf pans and preheat oven to 350


In a large bowl, cream shortening and sugar


Stir in eggs, pumpkin and water


Sift dry ingredients together and blend with egg mixture


Stir in nuts


Pour into pans


Bake in the pre-heated oven for about one hour or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean
