INGREDIENTS

  • Cooking Time: 12 - 15
  • 3/4 cup butter, margarine, or Crisco
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 3 cups old fashioned Quaker Oats
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda

DIRECTIONS

Beat together all liquid ingredients, butter and sugar (the longer the better)


Stir in all other ingredients (don't beat!)


Drop cookies by teaspoonful onto cookie sheet or baking stone.


Bake at 350 for 12-15 minutes until light golden brown.


Store in a tightly sealed container to keep soft.

Tried this recipe on 7/17/09 and it didn't have enough flour in it because they spread too thin and when I took them off the baking sheet, they just crumbled. Will not use this recipe again.

You must have done something wrong. I have made these cookies since I was a little girl and these are the best oatmeal cookies in the world. The only thing that's missing are the raisins and chocolate chips! I recommend trying again!

Looking at the instructions, I do see something that could have caused a problem. Sift the flour, baking soda and salt together first and then add to the wet ingredients. Once completely incorporated, add the oats. Once that's blended in add the raisins and chocolate chips - I'm not 100% sure how much of each - 1 cup, maybe?
