Quick And Easy Syrup Bread
300g Syrup (Lyle´s Golden)
700g Flour (sifted)
1 tsp cloves (powder)
2 tsp baking soda
grated peel of an organic orange
Mix all ingredients and bake in a square cake pan at 180°C for 30-45min depending how big the baking pan is. My mom always put it in the oven baking pan, so the bread was big and rather flat.
When cool, cut in 4 to 6 equal parts and then slice one at a time in nice bread slices when serving.
Ideal to freeze some of it, wrapped tightly in freezer bags etc.
Then just thaw on the table before serving for a few hours.
Pairs Well With
My mom made this bread all the time when we were growing up. It´s very quick and easy to make and tastes really good with cold butter topping and with a hot tea, coffee or even cocoa :)
