Why I Love This Recipe

Ingredients You'll Need

6 large baking apples (Rome
Beauty, Granny or golden
Delicious), cored
1 stick unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
3/4 c. firmly packed brown sugar
3/4 c. dark rum (may use
bourbon instead of dark rum)
3/4 c. whipping cream
1 1/2 Tbsp. vanilla

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Arrange apples upright in shallow

baking pan just large enough to accommodate. Top apples with

butter. Sprinkle with brown sugar, then drizzle with dark rum.

Bake until apples are tender, basting occasionally with pan

juices, approximately 45 minutes. Transfer apples to platter

and keep warm. Stir cream into baking pan and bring to boil

over high heat. Reduce heat to medium-high and cook, stirring

frequently, until sauce is reduced by half and coats spoon, 7

to 10 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla. Set

apples onto plates and spoon sauce over apples. Serve immedi-

ately. Serves 6.
