Why I Love This Recipe


Ingredients You'll Need

1 1/2 cup butter, soft
2 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 oz. red food coloring
2 T cocoa
1 tsp. salt
2 1/3 cup flour
1 cup buttermilk
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vinegar
8 oz cream cheese, soft
1 lb. confectioners sugar
1 cup chopped nuts


Directions

Cream 1 cup butter and 1 tsp vanilla in bowl. Add sugar, 1/3 cup at a time, beating well after each addition.


Stir in next 3 ingredients, mixing well.


Add flour 1/3 cup at a time alternately with buttermilk, beating well after each addition, beginning and ending with flour.


Combine soda and vinegar.


Add to batter, mixing well.


Pour into 3 prepared 8-inch round cake pans. Bake at 350° for 15-20 minutes.


Cream remaining butter and cream cheese in bowl. Add 1 tsp. vanilla and confectioners sugar, mixing well.


Stir in nuts.


Spread between layers and over top of cooled cake.
