Why I Love This Recipe

Rosalie Sailstad's Grandma Rose DeWitt made these cookies for her granddaughter while living in Stratford, CT. Fun fact about the DeWitt Family: Joyce DeWitt from the TV sitcom "Three's Company" is also a granddaughter of Rose DeWitt.

Ingredients You'll Need

2 cups sugar
1 cup shortening
Juice and rind of 2 oranges
2 eggs
1 cup sour milk
4 cups flour, maybe a bit more
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
Icing: Juice and rind of one orange, mix with powdered sugar to desired consistency.


Directions

Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.


Mix ingredient's together.


Drop by spoon full onto greased sheet pan.


Bake for 12-15 minutes.


When cooled, apply the orange icing.
