SWEDISH MEATBALL SAUCE

Ingredients

1/2 pound butter
1 cup flour
1 tablespoon paprika
2 tablespoons onion salt
8 cups boiling water
1 1/2 cups half & half.
1 teaspoon peppe


Melt 1/2 pound butter in heavy pan until bubbly. Add 1 cup flour to which 1 tablespoon paprika, 2 tablespoons onion salt, 1 teaspoon pepper has been added. Stir vigorously for 2 minutes. Add 8 cups boiling water. Stir until thick (5 minutes). Add 1 1/2 cups half & half. Heat until hot; do not boil. Scrapings from meatballs pan may be added.


This makes enough for about 30 meatballs, so you may want to reduce it if not cooking for a crowd!

You can add this to purchased meatballs. And you can add mushrooms if desired.
