  • 3 cups of water
  • 2 cups of Basmati rice
  • 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
  • a small bunch of fresh dill, chopped
  • a smal bunch of cilantro, chopped
  • a small bunch of parsley, chopped
  • 2 cups of horse beans
  • ground turmeric to taste
  • ground cinnamon to taste
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of pepper


  • 1 Bring water to the boil in a big pot, stir the rice into the boiling water, reduce the heat and simmer for 5 minutes.
  • 2 Drain the rice, stir in the oil and half a cup of water
  • 3 Add the herbs, horse beans, turmeric, cinnamon, salt and pepper
  • 4 Cover and simmer on the lowest heat for 40 to 45 minutes
  • NB Don't be surprised to find some crispy rice on the bottom of the pot after cooking. The crispy rice tastes very good too.
