Ingredients You'll Need

1 3/4 cups flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp almond extract
sliced almonds

Almond Icing:
1 cup sifted powdered sugar
1/4 tsp almond extract
3-4 tbsp milk


Directions

Mix together the flour, baking powder, and the salt.


Set aside


In a large mixing bowl, beat the butter until softened


Add the sugar


Beat until fluffy


Add to the flour mixture


Mix together and blend well.


Add the egg and almond extract.


Mix all together and blend well once again


Divide the dough into four equal parts


Form each one into a 12-inch roll.


Place two of the rolls 4 to 5 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet


Flatten the dough so it is about 3 inches aide


Repeat with the last two rolls


Brush with the milk


Sprinkle with sliced almonds


Bake at 325 F for 12 to 14 minutes


The edges should be slightly browned


Cut into 1-inch diagonal strips while the bars are still warm


Cool and then dirzzle with the almond icing


Almond Icing:


Stir together the powdered sugar and the almond extract


Add the milk to make a thin consistency


Drizzle over the bars
