- 1 c. shortening
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 c. sour milk (or 1/2 c. sweet milk, add 1 1/2 tsp. lemon juice or vinegar)
- 1/2 c. molasses
- 1 tbsp. vanilla
- 3 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. cloves
- 1 tsp. ginger
- 5 to 6 c. flour
- Add wet ingredients to dry.
- Drop teaspoonful on greased cookie sheet at 350 degrees for 12 minutes. Makes 3 to 4 dozen.
