Soup to Nuts Cake
1C granulated sugar
1tsp. baking powder
1/2C nuts (I use walnuts.)
1 can tomato soup
1 tsp. baking soda (mixed into soup)
1 pkg. cream cheese
2-3C powdered sugar
Combine all ingredients. Flour raisins. Bake in an 8 or 9 inch pan for 45min. - 1 hour in a 350 degree oven.
Beat frosting ingredients until creamy. Spread on cooled cake.
Pairs Well With
This is a recipe for a spice cake similar in taste and texture to carrot cake. My family makes this every Thanksgiving and beginning in October I begin to crave it. People from outside of the family seem frightened by the tomato soup, but I promise it simply adds a hint of flavor to the cake. It is not overpowering.
