SOUR CREAM APPLE PIE
INGREDIENTS
- 4 C peeled, diced finely chopped tart apples
- ¾ C sugar
- 1/8 t salt
- 1 egg
- 2 T flour
- 1 t vanilla
- ½ t grated nutmeg
- ¼ t cinnamon
- 1 C dairy sour cream
- Spicy topping:
- 1/3 C sugar
- 1/3 C flour
- 1 t cinnamon
- ¼ C butter
DIRECTIONS
Sift the flour, salt and sugar. Stir into flour mixture the egg, sour cream, vanilla, nutmeg and cinnamon. Beat to a thin batter. Stir in the apples and pour into unbaked pie crust. Bake in 400 degrees oven for 15 minutes; reduce heat to 350 and bake another 30 minutes
Cut together with fork the spicy topping ingredients. Remove pie from oven when done; scatter the Spicy Topping on top and return to 400 degree oven for 10 minutes. Makes 1 – 9 inch pie.
Pie can be frozen for later use. Before serving, thaw and reheat if desired.
