Southern praline bars
1/2 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. brown sugar
1 1/2 sifted flour
1 t. baking powder
1 t. salt
2 t. vanilla
3/4 c. pecans
Melt shortening in sauce pan. Add remaining
ingredients except frosting and mix well. Spread in greased 13x9 inch pan.
Bake at 350 for 25 to 30 minutes. Cool slightly, then spread with frosting. When cool, cut into bars.
Praline frosting: Melt in pan, 2 T. butter, 1/4 c. brown sugar and 2 T. milk or cream. Stir in 1 c. sifted powder sugar, enough to make a frosting of spreading consistency and beat until smooth.
