Crab is an excellent addition to a healthy eating plan. It is low in calories with only around 85-90 per 100g (depending on crab type). It does contain some fat, but it is generally unsaturated fat which is considered heart healthy. Crab is also a natural source of omega-3 fatty acids, which can help to improve memory, decrease the chances of having a heart attack, decrease risk of cancer, and possibly help to improve depression and anxiety.Crab is also a good source of vitamins A, C and the B vitamins including B12, and minerals like zinc and copper. It is a source of selenium


Ingredients You'll Need

INGREDIENTS REQUIRED

Crab – 500 grms
Sesame Oil – 3 Tspn
Mustard Seeds 1 tspn
Turmeric Powder ½ tspn
Chili Powder ½ tspn
Curry & Coriander Leaves & Salt to taste

To Roast and Blend
Cumin Seeds/Jeera -2tbsp
Fennel Seeds (Sombu ) 1tbsp
Coriander Seeds/Malli-1 tsp
Black Pepper 1 ½ tspn
Poppy Seeds ½ tbsp
Green Chilies 4 Nos
Dry Chilies 4 Nos
Garlic - 10 Cloves
Ginger 2 inch piece Chopped
Pearl/Small Onions 10 Nos
Tomato 2 Nos medium size
Grated Coconut 1 Cup


Directions

Keep the kadai on low flame, add oil ,Cumin Seeds, Fennel Seeds,coriander Seeds,Black pepper, Green Chilly, Dry Red Chilly,Poppy Seeds and roast for 1 minute.


Add Ginger And Garlic and saute well.


Then add diced onion and saute well


Add tomato and saute till they are smashed well.


Grind the sauted ingredients to a smooth paste


Also grind fresh coconut to a smooth paste.


For Gravy


Add seasame oil,Mustard seeds, Onion and saute well. Then in a low flame add Turmeric powder and Red chilly powder and salt


Add the Grinded paste and Curry Leaves and cook well until oil oozes out.


Then add Grinded coconut and let it cook for 5 minutes


Add required water according to your consistency and when it starts boiling add cleaned crabs and cover and cook for about 10 -15 Minutes. Also flip the crab when the gravy is half way.


Note:


You can also saute coconut with the ingredients and grind it together.


After cleaning the crabs, don’t let them stay long time on the counter top, it may loses it’s flavor & taste. So always clean the crab right before adding in to the curry.


Adding lots of pepper to the crab curry helps to clear throat infection, good digestion & helps to maintain the body temperature.


Seasame oil Makes the curry to taste like heaven.


If You dont have coriander Seeds you can also add coriander powder in the gravy.
