Split peas soup
1 can split peas drained
5 1/3 cups cold water
4 cups chicken broth
1 carrot finely chopped
1 celery stalk with leaves finely chopped
1 1/2 cups onion finely chopped
3 garlic cloves, finely chopped
2 tsp lemon juice
salt & pepper to taste
dash each of parsley, thyme, marjoram and cayenne pepper
In a pot add peas with 5 1/3 cups of cold water.
Bring water to a boil reduce heat and simmer for 1 1/2 hours til the split peas are tender.
Add chicken broth, carrot, celery, onion, garlic, lemon juice, and all spices.
Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer til carrots are soft.
