STEAK SPICE RUB

Ingredients

  • 1-teaspoon of salt (sea salt or kosher)
  • ½ teaspoon of granulated garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon of dry basil
  • ½ teaspoon of dry oregano
  • A dash of ground thyme
  • ¼ teaspoon of ground black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon of ground white pepper
  • A dash of cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon of whole black pepper

Directions

  • In a small bowl mix all the ingredients and mash them together with your fingers.

  • ½ teaspoon of dry basil
  • ½ teaspoon of dry oregano
  • A dash of ground thyme
  • ¼ teaspoon of ground black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon of ground white pepper
  • A dash of cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon of whole black pepper
  • Rub the steaks with olive oil and then apply your spice mix ; cover both sides of the steak with the spices.
  • Make sure to save some of the spice mix to apply on the steak prior to placing on the grill. Place the steaks in a glass dish and pour in some red wine - doesn't really matter how much.
  • Allow the steak to marinate for at least 2 hours prior to cooking .
  • Grill over moderately high heat. It takes about 4 to 6 minutes per side depending on the thickness of the steak.
  • If you like things hot, just add more cayenne to the spice rub!
