Steamy Sweet Mussels
2 pounds mussels
1/4 cup duck sauce
1 cup dry white wine
1/4 cup chopped fresh basil
Mix duck sauce, wine, and basil in a small bowl. Set aside.
Wash mussels thoroughly three times as follows:
Use a vegetable brush to scrub the shells.
Pull beards from shells and discard beards.
Submerse the mussels in cool water and let them soak for 10 minutes.
Drain mussels and repeat soaking 2 more times.
Place mussels in a steamer basket.
Put duck sauce mixture into a large pot with a lid.
Bring mixture to a boil.
Place basket of mussels in the pot and cover pot with lid.
Steam mussels for 10 minutes.
Remove mussels from basket. Discard any mussels that did not open.

This dish can be served as an appetizer or pair it with some crusty bread and as a light lunch or dinner.
