Serves 5 dozen | Prep Time 45-60 | Cook Time 8-10

Ingredients

1 cup soft shortening
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 eggs

2 3/4 cups sifted flour
2 tsp cream of tartar
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt


Mix together thoroughly the first three ingredients. Sift together the next four ingredients and stir into the sugar mixture. Chill dough.


Roll into balls the size of small walnuts. Roll the balls in a mixture of 2 T sugar and 2 tsp cinnamon. Place the balls about 2" apart on ungreased baking sheets. Bake until lightly browned but still soft in a 400° oven for 8-10 minutes.
