2 c. sugar
½ c. shortening
1 ½ c. buttermilk(regular milk with 1 ½ tbs vinegar added to it)
1 tsp baking soda
3 tsp baking powder
Pinch of salt
3 ½-4 c. flour
Make buttermilk by adding 1 ½ tbs vinegar added to it, let sit for 3 minutes.
Combine all ingredients.
Drop onto cookie sheet, sprinkle with sprinkles. Bake at 450* until lightly brown on the edges.
Pairs Well With
This recipe was made by my Grandmother's best friend every year for when we all got together at the beach for a week. She has since passed away, and I now continue to make them every year, and also make them at Christmas. They bring back happy memories every time that we bake them.
