INGREDIENTS

  • Cooking Time: 90
  • Servings: 20-25
  • Preparation Time: 15
  • 2 lbs spareribs – have butcher cut into 1 inch pieces
  • ½ c cornstarch
  • ¼ c Canola oil
  • 1 garlic clove, smashed
  • 1 onion, diced and carmelized
  • 1 can pineapple chunks, drained
  • sauce
  • ¾ c sugar
  • ½ c apple cider vinegar
  • ¼ c molasses
  • ½ c soy sauce
  • 1 c pineapple juice

DIRECTIONS

Parboil spareribs until meat shrinks from the bone and drain well


Coat all pieces with cornstarch very well


Cook garlic in oil until just browned, then remove


Brown sparerib pieces over medium heat


Remove sparerib pieces and pour off excess oil


Combine all sauce ingredients in pan and simmer for about 5 minutes or until sugar is dissolved


Add ribs back to sauce, tossing to cover, and simmer for 15 to 20 minutes


Add caramelized onions and pineapple, cooking for another 5 minutes
