THE BEST Chocolate Chip Cookies
1 lb. softened butter
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 1/2 cups light brown sugar
2 Big TBSP vanilla
4 large eggs (at room temp.)
5 cups flour
1 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
12 oz. chocolate chips
* Nuts optional (walnuts, or any kind you like)
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Cream the butter and sugar.
Add eggs and vanilla, mix well.
Add flour, salt, and baking soda, mix well.
Add chocolate chips and mix well.
Using an ice cream scoop, place cookie scoops onto greased cookie sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes.
Allow to cool on cookie sheet for a few minutes, then transfer onto a cooling rack.

This is my mom's recipe for chocolate chip cookies. When I was a kid we would travel to Macy's in San Francisco, and Mrs. Field's Cookies was just starting out. My mom looked high and low to get the recipe for those chocolate chip cookies, then one day she found one, and this one is a blend of Nestle's recipe and Mrs. Field's. I've never met anyone who doesn't fall in love with these. In fact, I think I've baked them out of love many a times.
