RECIPE BACKSTORY
celebration of Ramadan. This holy month is observed by exhibiting discipline and restraint through fasting and empathizing with the less fortunate by performing good deeds. It’s also a time to show reverence for the prophet Mohammad.
Dates play a significant part of the Ramadan holiday as they are the food typically used to break the daily fast after sundown. The reason dates are used is that tradition says that the Muslim prophet was the first to end a fast with dates. Tradition also says that Muslims should eat an odd number of dates about 15 minutes after the sun sets.
Since dates are plentiful during Ramadan why not use them to create some taste treats that you might not have during the rest of the year, like date candy.
