TEXAS SHEET CAKE

Ingredients

  • 2 sticks butter
  • 1 cup water
  • 4 Tbl cocoa (She recommends DROSTE in red box Cocoa (holland))
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 tsp (or less) salt
  • 2 eggs beaten
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 T vinegar
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • For Icing:
  • 1 stick butter
  • 4 Tbl cocoa
  • 6 Tbl milk
  • 1 box powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 c chopped walnuts

Directions

  • In a sauce pan, bring butter, water, and cocoa to a boil, set aside
  • In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar and salt.
  • In a small bowl, beat eggs, buttermilk, vanilla, vinegar, and soda.
  • Add all three together and beat. Pour into a sheet cake pan.
  • Bake @ 400 degrees for 20 min.
  • For the Icing: bring butter, cocoa and milk to a rolling boil, then add 1 box (less) powdered sugar, vanilla, and chopped walnuts.
  • Ice cake while still warm.

A co-worker made this one day and it was sooooo good. I had to get the recipe and share it with all.
