Toffee Butter Bars
1 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups flour
2 7 ounce Hersheys bars, squared
1/2 cup toasted pecans, finely chopped
Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Beat in egg and vanilla. Add flour gradually, mixing well. Spread mixture in greased 9 x 13" baking pan. Bake in preheated 350 degree oven 20 minutes (cookie bottom may not appear done, but is fully baked). Immediately after removing from oven, place chocolate squares on top of baked cookie bottom. When chocolate is melted, spread evenly with spatula. Sprinkle with nuts. Cut into bars immediately. Makes 24 bars.
