VALENTINES DAY STEAK WITH HOMEMADE GRAVY

INGREDIENTS

  • INGREDIENTS:
  • 4-6 med.size beef tenderloin or rib eye fillets,each sliced ½ inch thick
  • Rock salt and coarsely ground
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tbsp.olive oil
  • 1 tbsp. butter
  • FOR THE GRAVY:
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 2 tsp. soy sauce
  • 1 tsp.worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp. butter
  • 1 tsp.finelyb chopped garlic
  • ½ tsp.dried rosemary leaves or 1 ½ tsp. coarsely chopped fresh rosemary
  • 1 tbsp. all purpose flour

DIRECTIONS

1.season the steak with salt and pepper. Pour olive oil in frying pan. Place in medium heat. Add the butter and stir until it blends.


2.cook the steaks to desired doneness, using the below as a guide. Transfer the steak to platter and keep warm by loosely covering the platter with a sheet of foil. ( note; do not wash the pan. Use the same pan for making the gravy.)



PROCEDURE FOR THE GRAVY:


1. in a small bowl,combine water,soy sauce,and Worcestershire sauce. Melt the remaining butter in the same fryung pan used to cook the steak.


2. briefly sauté garlic and rosemary in butter,scraffing off any loose bits of meat to add more flavor. Add flour and mix well.


3. pour in soy sauce mixture and continue cooking until the sauce is smooth and thickens to desired consistency. Pour over the steaks.
