VALENTINES DAY STEAK WITH HOMEMADE GRAVY

Ingredients

  • INGREDIENTS:
  • 4-6 med.size beef tenderloin or rib eye fillets,each sliced ½ inch thick
  • Rock salt and coarsely ground
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tbsp.olive oil
  • 1 tbsp. butter
  • FOR THE GRAVY:
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 2 tsp. soy sauce
  • 1 tsp.worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp. butter
  • 1 tsp.finelyb chopped garlic
  • ½ tsp.dried rosemary leaves or 1 ½ tsp. coarsely chopped fresh rosemary
  • 1 tbsp. all purpose flour

Directions

  • 1.season the steak with salt and pepper. Pour olive oil in frying pan. Place in medium heat. Add the butter and stir until it blends.
  • 2.cook the steaks to desired doneness, using the below as a guide. Transfer the steak to platter and keep warm by loosely covering the platter with a sheet of foil. ( note; do not wash the pan. Use the same pan for making the gravy.)
  • PROCEDURE FOR THE GRAVY:
  • 1. in a small bowl,combine water,soy sauce,and Worcestershire sauce. Melt the remaining butter in the same fryung pan used to cook the steak.
  • 2. briefly sauté garlic and rosemary in butter,scraffing off any loose bits of meat to add more flavor. Add flour and mix well.
  • 3. pour in soy sauce mixture and continue cooking until the sauce is smooth and thickens to desired consistency. Pour over the steaks.
