Vanilla Cut Out Cookies

This is my Grandmother's recipe. It's perfect for any occasion you want cut-outs.

INGREDIENTS

  • Servings: approx. 5 dozen
  • Cream together:
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup butter (2 sticks)
  • Add: 2 eggs
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • Add Gradually:
  • 4 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

DIRECTIONS

Chill thoroughly, then roll out 1/4 inch thick. Cutout cookies with cookie cutters, place on lightly greased cookie sheets. Bake at 350° until lightly brown around edges.



Frosting: (it will be shiny & translucent like the picture)


2 1/2 cups powdered sugar


2 tablespoons water


1 tablespoon softened butter


1 tablespoon light corn syrup


1/2 tsp vanilla


Food color, if desired

Is there really an egg in the frosting? I wasn't sure if that was a typo. Please let us know. Won't that make you sick to have a raw egg in the frosting? Maybe I could substitute egg beaters instead. Sounds interesting and peaked my interest. I will see if you post. Thanks
