Sugar Cookies

He likes butter cookies. I like sugar cookies. Here's a very simple recipe that puts the two together. They are especially good right out of the oven. Enjoy!

CATEGORIES

INGREDIENTS

  • Cooking Time: 10 - 12
  • Servings: 45 Pcs.
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) butter at room temp
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups flour

DIRECTIONS

Preheat oven to 350F.

Line cookie sheets with parchment paper or Silpat.

Measure out flour then sift into a bowl and set aside.

Using an electronic mixer, cream together butter and sugar.

Add the vanilla.

Slowly add sifted flour to the butter mixture.

Mix well until all ingredients are incorporated into a soft dough.

Scoop up about 3/4 tablespoons of dough and roll into balls.

Roll balls of dough in some sugar.

Place on cookie sheet and flatten evenly with fingers just a bit, so the cookies are shaped like little discs.

Bake at 350F for 10-12 mins, until edges turn a slight golden brown.

Cool on a wire rack.

These were so yummy and so simple! I had all the ingredients already in my kitchen. I used a cookie dough gun I just bought and made pumpkins and hearts and flower shaped cookies using this recipe. I added a little more vanilla. It's fabulous!

Yahooo! I am a missionary in Buenos Aires. My sister/companion and I wanted to make cookies, but not shortbread, and not sugar. so your recipe caught my eye. We had to recalculate the measurements to grams, and our oven has no temperature regulator, so we had to adjust the cooking time. We decided they were better if we didn't press the balls down at all. We made them pretty small so they could be popped in the mouth in one bite. The cooking time ended up being reduced to 8 minutes. We are now a big hit with all of the missionaries here because with all of the bakeries here (on every block) It's not common to find COOKIES. We're so happy. Thank you. Sister Blanchette
