WINE BAKED APPLES
6 medium sized tart baking apples
1/4 c. Land O Lakes butter
1 c. firmly packed brown sugar
3/4 c. chopped pecans
2 tsp. freshly grated lemon rind
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
sharp Cheddar cheese wedges
Peel and core apples, slice into 1/2 inch thick rings.
Saute apples in butter over medium-high heat 4 to 5 minutes.
Arrange apples and butter in a 12 x 8 x 2-inch glass baking
dish, pour wine over apples. Combine remaining ingredients,
sprinkle over apples and wine. Bake at 325 degrees for 35 minutes or
until apples are soft. Serve hot with wedges of Cheddar
cheese. Yields 6 servings.
