Why I Love This Recipe


Ingredients You'll Need

2 lb. 4 oz. prepared pie dough
12 medium apples (Cortlands,
Greenings, Baldwin or
Jonathan)


Directions

Roll out dough to a rectangle, measuring 18 x 24-inches.


Cut into 12 squares, 3 along the 18-inch side and 4 across the


24-inch length, each measuring 6 x 6-inches. Place one peeled


and cored apple in center of each square. Pour 1/2 ounce


cinnamon sugar mix into cored out center of each apple. Cover


apple over with dough by lifting up each corner and placing one


corner on top of the other.


Press covers down and together with fingers to seal.


Place on greased sheet pan with folded corners on top. Wash


tops and sides with egg wash. Bake in preheated 450 degrees oven for


just 15 minutes, then reduce heat to 400 degrees and bake for an


additional 30 minutes. Test apples with fork or knife for


doneness. They should be easy to pierce, if done.


Egg Wash for Woolworth's Apple Dumplings:


1 egg


1 oz. water


pinch of salt


Beat together with a wire whip until well blended
