Wassail Bowl with Cloved Orange
Whole cloves to cover the orange
1 gallon apple cider (16 cups)
6 whole cloves
6 whole allspice
2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 6 ounce can frozen orange juice concentrate
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
2 Tbsp lemon juice
3 inch cinnamon sticks (optional)
In covered 6 quart saucepan over low heat, simmer 2 cups apple cider, cloves, allspice and nutmeg 10 minutes.
Pour hot liquid through strainer to remove cloves and allspice.
Add remaining apple cider, undiluted orange-juice concentrate, brown sugar and lemon juice.
Heat until hot, but not boiling, stirring occasionally.
Pour hot cider into heated punch bowl.
Add clove infused orange to punch bowl.
Ladle 1/2 cup of hot punch into each punch cup, if desired add cinnamon stick to each serving
