YVETTE’S WHOLE WHEAT PIE CRUST

Ingredients

  • Ingredients for single crust:
  • 2/3 C white flour
  • 1/3 C whole wheat flour
  • 1/3 C vegetable shortening
  • 2 T butter
  • 1 to 4 T very cold water
  • Ingredients for double crust:
  • 2 C + 2 T whole wheat flour
  • 2/3 C shortening
  • 2 T butter
  • Up to 1/3 C water

Directions

  • Sift flours together.
  • Cut in shortening and butter.
  • Mix in as little water as possible to hold dough together.
  • Form dough into ball.
  • Wrap in wax paper or plastic.
  • Chill for at least 15 minutes.
  • Directions for baked pie shell:
  • Prick unbaked shell with fork before baking.
  • Bake at 375 to 450 degrees for 8-12 minutes.

Notes

Makes One 8” to 10” single crust OR a double crust.

For white flour crust, use 1 cup white flour instead of white and wheat mixture.
