- 2 sticks margarine softened
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 3 cups sugar
- 3 cups all purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 5 eggs (room temp)
- 4 tbsp. cocoa
- 1 cup milk.
- Cream butter and shortening & eggs until light and fluffy. Add sugar and cream well. Sift together dry ingredients. Add to egg mixture alternating with milk. Add vanilla. Batter will be very thick. Grease and flour 10 inch tube pan and bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour and 20 min. or until done. Preheat oven.
NotesThis Was my Mom's recipe. My husband requested it every year for his birthday. It is an old fashioned moist but dense pound cake. In my opinion it's the best.
