Almond Sugar Cookies
INGREDIENTS

  • 1/2 c. unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1/2 c. brown sugar
  • 1/4 c. granulated sugar
  • 1 egg plus 1 egg white
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp. almond extract
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/8 tsp. salt
  • 2 1/2 c. all purpose flour
  • Powdered Sugar
DIRECTIONS
  1. In large bowl cream together butter, shortening, and sugars until light.
  2. Add egg and egg white, vanilla, and almond extract.
  3. Mix well.
  4. Sift together baking powder, salt, and flour.
  5. Add to bowl, mixing until well combined (dough should begin to pull away from sides of the bowl). Cover, refrigerate for at least one hour.
  6. Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.
  7. Roll out dough to 1/8" thick on floured surface and cut with desired cutters.
  8. Bake on ungreased cookie sheet for about 8 minutes, or until lightly golden and set.
  9. Let cool and dust with powdered sugar.
