BEER BREAD

INGREDIENTS
  • 1 large loaf or 2 small loaves
  • 3 cups plain flour
  • 3 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 12-oz. can beer, (not low alcohol)
  • 1/2 cup grated mild cheddar cheese
DIRECTIONS
  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  2. Mix flour, baking powder, salt and beer in a large bowl and stir until well combined, spread in one large loaf pan or two 3 x 5 inch tins coated with butter spray.
  3. Sprinkle top with grated cheese.
  4. Bake the large loaf for 50 - 60 minutes and the small loaves 30 to 40 minutes until golden brown.
  5. Tip out and cool on wire rack.
  6. This bread keeps well and makes excellent toast.
  7. Try different types of beer. It may not take as long as the recipe says to bake so keep an eye on it.
