Baked Stuffed French Toast

- 8 eggs
- 4 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1-2 loaves day old French bread cut into 1/2 inch slices
- 3 cups milk
- Butter
- Cinnamon
- Confectioner's sugar
- Filling:
- 8 oz. softened cream cheese
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1/2 cup walnuts (optional)
DIRECTIONS
- Grease a 9 x 13 glass baking dish generously with butter.
- Beat eggs, sugar, milk and vanilla in one bowl.
- Mix cream cheese, vanilla and nuts in another bowl.
- Spread cream cheese mix onto bread and make sandwiches.
- Place sandwiches into the pan very tightly.
- Pour egg mixture over the bread.
- Sprinkle cinnamon and dot each sandwich with a little pat of butter.
- Refrigerate overnight.
- Bake at 350 for 45 minutes or until middle is set.
- Sprinkle with confectioner's sugar.
- Serve with warm syrup.
