Basic Buttercream + Additions

INGREDIENTS
  • Servings: 3 cups
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 4 1/2 cups confectioners sugar
  • 1 1/2 tesp vanilla extract
  • 5 to 6 tbs milk
DIRECTIONS
  1. In a large mixing bowl, cream butter until light and fluffy. Beat in sugar and vanilla. Add enough milk to achieve desired consistency.
  2. ALMOND - use 1/2 to 3/4 tsp almond extract rather than vanilla
  3. CHOCOLATE - use 4 cups confectioner's sugar and 1/2 cup cocoa, 6 to 7 tbs milk
  4. LEMON - use 5 to 6 tbs lemon juice instead of milk and add 1 tsp lemon rind
  5. ORANGE - use 5 to 6 tbs orange juice instead of milk and add 1 tsp orange rind
  6. PEANUT BUTTER - use 1/2 cup peanut butter instead of butter and 6 to 8 tbs milk
  7. PEPPERMINT - use 1/2 to 3/4 tsp peppermint extract instead of vanilla
