Basic Marinara Sauce

  • 1 28 oz. can whole Italian tomatoes, pureed
  • 1/3 cup olive oil
  • 1/2 cup onion, chopped
  • 1/2 cup celery, chopped
  • 1/2 cup carrot, chopped
  • 1/4 cup basil, chopped, loosely packed
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
DIRECTIONS
  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot.
  2. Cook onions on medium heat until soft and translucent.
  3. Add celery and carrot. Cook until soft.
  4. Add tomatoes, basil and salt and cook for 30 minutes.
