Beef and Beer Stew

INGREDIENTS
  • 1\3 C salt pork or bacon
  • 2 1/2 -3 lbs stew meat
  • 3 lg onion
  • 3T paprika
  • 1T salt
  • 1t ground nutmeg
  • 1t dried marjoram
  • 1 C water
  • 6oz tomato paste
  • 1T Worcestershire sauce
  • 4 lg potatoes, cubed
  • 6 carrots, thinly sliced
  • 24 oz beer
DIRECTIONS
  1. Cook salt pork in large stew pot until rendered
  2. Add meat: cook and stir over medium heat until browned
  3. Remove meat
  4. Reduce heat to medium and add onion. Cook until tender
  5. Return meat, add seasonings, beer, water, tomato paste amd Worcestershire. Stir to mix
  6. Cover and simmer until tender. About 1 1/2 hours
  7. Add prepared vegetables, cover and simmer until vegetables ate cooked. About 45 minutes.
