Bourbon (or rum) Balls
INGREDIENTS
  • 1 6 oz pkg. semi sweet chocolate pieces
  • 3 Tablespoons corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup bourbon or rum
  • 2 1/2 cups crushed vanilla wafers
  • 1/2 powdered sugar
  • 1. cup finely chopped nuts
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (used to roll balls in)
DIRECTIONS
  1. In a double boiler, over hot ( not boiling) water, melt chocolate
  2. Remove from heat and stir in syrup and rum
  3. In a large bowl combine crumbs, powdered sugar and nuts
  4. Add melted chocolate
  5. Mix well. Let stand for 30 minutes
  6. Form into balls 1 inch in size, roll in granulated sugar. Store in airtight container.
RECIPE BACKSTORY
I have a good friend who loves rum balls. So I searched until I found a recipe. I found one in a recipe book that was over 50 years old, that my Mom used with I was a kid. You know...back in the old days.... But I updated a little to go along with todays recipes. Great for christmas gifts to adults.
