Butter Horns

  • 1 cup milk, scalded, set aside to cool
  • 1/4 cup warm water
  • 1 pkg yeast
  • 1/2 lb butter
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 4 cups flour
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 3 tbls sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup nuts, finely ground
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • Cinnamon
DIRECTIONS
  1. Sift flour sugar and salt
  2. Work 1/2 lb butter into flour mixture with fingers
  3. Add eggs
  4. Mix yeast and water to dissolve,
  5. Add yeast, milk and vanilla, knead until smooth
  6. Make horn shaped cookies
  7. Brush with melted butter
  8. Sprinkle with sugar, nuts and cinnamon
  9. Allow to rise
  10. Bake at 350 for about 25 minutes
