CROCK-POT APPLE BUTTER

INGREDIENTS
  • 5 qt. finely chopped apples
  • 4 c. sugar
  • 4 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. cloves
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
DIRECTIONS
  1. Fill a 5 quart crock-pot heaping full with finely
  2. chopped apples. Tart apples are best. Drizzle sugar over
  3. apples. Less sugar, depending on sweetness of apples. Add
  4. cinnamon, cloves and salt over the apples. Cover. Lid may not
  5. fit tightly at first but apples will shrink as cooked. Begin
  6. cooking on high, then lower heat and cook all day until thick
  7. and dark color. Stir occasionally. Place in small peanut
  8. butter jars. Cool and freeze.
