Chocolate Cherry Heart Smart Cookies. By Jane Carstrom
  • 1.5 oz. all- purpose flour
  • 1.5 oz. whole wheat flour
  • 1 1/2 C. old fashioned rolled oats
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 6 Tbsp. unsalted butter
  • 3/4 C. light brown sugar
  • 1 C. dried cherries
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 large Egg, beaten
  • 3 oz. bittersweet chocolate (coarsely chopped)
  1. Direction:
  2. Preheat the Oven for 350 degrees
  3. Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup. Level with knife. Combine flour, oats, soda and salt. Stir with a whisk.
  4. Milt butter in a saucepan in low heat. Remove from heat and add sugar. Stir until sugar is dissolved. Add sugar mixture into flour mixture. Beat with electric mixer in a medium speed. Add cherries, vanilla and egg. Beat until combined. Fold in chocolate
  5. Drop a teaspoon full (2 inches apart) into a baking sheet coated with spray. Bake for 12 minutes. Remove cookie from sheet pan and cool in a wire rack. Serve.
Serve with cold milk
