Chocolate Chip Cookie Brittle

  • 1 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 (12-ounce) package NESTLÉ TOLL HOUSE Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels, divided use
  • 1 cup chopped nuts
DIRECTIONS
  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  2. Beat butter, sugar, vanilla extract and salt in a large mixing bowl.
  3. Gradually beat in flour.
  4. Stir in 1-1/2 cups morsels and nuts.
  5. Press into ungreased 15x10-inch jelly-roll pan.
  6. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown and set.
  7. Cool until just slightly warm.
  8. Microwave remaining morsels in a small, heavy-duty plastic bag on HIGH power for 30 to 45 seconds; knead.
  9. Microwave at additional 10 to 20-second intervals, kneading until smooth.
  10. Cut tiny corner from bag; squeeze to drizzle over cookie.
  11. Allow chocolate to cool and set; break cookies into irregular pieces.
  12. Makes 50 pieces.
