Danish Puffs
INGREDIENTS
  • Cooking Time: 1 hour
  • Servings: 14-16
  • Preparation Time: 20-30 minutes
  • Dough:
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • Filling:
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 teaspoon almond flavor
  • 1 cup flour
  • 3 eggs
  • Powdered Sugar Icing
  • 1 cup sifted powdered sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 tablespoon milk or orange juice
DIRECTIONS
  1. Preheat oven to 350.
  2. Mix 1 cup flour, 1/2 cup butter and 2 tablespoons water like pie dough.
  3. Pat on cookie sheet in 2-12x3 inch rolls.
  4. Bring 1 cup water to boil.
  5. Add 1/2 cup butter and 1 tsp almond flavor.
  6. Boil, remove from heat and add 1 cup flour all at once.
  7. Beat until smooth.
  8. Add eggs, one at a time.
  9. Beat after each egg until smooth.
  10. Spread over dough.
  11. Bake at 350 for 1 hour.
  12. Cool.
  13. Frost with powdered sugar icing:
  14. In a small bowl combine powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk.
  15. Stir in additional milk or juice, 1 teaspoon at a time, until it reached drizzling consistency.
  16. Makes 1/2 cup.
  17. Sprinkle with chopped nuts if desired.
  18. Best if eaten the same day as baked.
