- Dough:
- 1 cup flour
- 1/2 cup butter
- 2 tablespoons water
- Filling:
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 teaspoon almond flavor
- 1 cup flour
- 3 eggs
- Powdered Sugar Icing
- 1 cup sifted powdered sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 tablespoon milk or orange juice
DIRECTIONS
- Preheat oven to 350.
- Mix 1 cup flour, 1/2 cup butter and 2 tablespoons water like pie dough.
- Pat on cookie sheet in 2-12x3 inch rolls.
- Bring 1 cup water to boil.
- Add 1/2 cup butter and 1 tsp almond flavor.
- Boil, remove from heat and add 1 cup flour all at once.
- Beat until smooth.
- Add eggs, one at a time.
- Beat after each egg until smooth.
- Spread over dough.
- Bake at 350 for 1 hour.
- Cool.
- Frost with powdered sugar icing:
- In a small bowl combine powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk.
- Stir in additional milk or juice, 1 teaspoon at a time, until it reached drizzling consistency.
- Makes 1/2 cup.
- Sprinkle with chopped nuts if desired.
- Best if eaten the same day as baked.
