French Breakfast Puffs

INGREDIENTS
  • 1/3 C. shortening
  • 1/2 C. sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/2 C. flour
  • 1 1/2 t. baking powder
  • 1/2 t. salt
  • 1/4 t. ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 C. milk
  • 1/2 C. sugar
  • 1 t. cinnamon
  • 1/2 C. margarine or butter, melted
DIRECTIONS
  1. Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease 15 muffin cups. Mix shortening, 1/2 C. sugar and egg.
  2. Stir in flour, baking powder, salt and nutmeg alternately with the milk. Fill muffin cups about 2/3 full.
  3. Bake until golden brown, 20 to 25 minutes.
  4. Mix 1/2 C. sugar and the cinnamon.
