Hot Sausage Bake
INGREDIENTS
  • Servings: 12 - 15
  • 12 slices white bread, crusts removed, cubed
  • 1-1/2 pounds hot pork sausage
  • 1/3 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped green pepper
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped red pepper
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped yellow pepper
  • 6 eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
DIRECTIONS
  1. Line a greased 13 x 9 baking dish with bread cubes; set aside.
  2. In a skillet, cook crumbled sausage with the onion and peppers over medium heat until meat done; drain. sprinkle over bread.
  3. In a bowl, beat eggs, milk, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, salt, pepper and oregano. Pour over sausage mixture. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
  4. Bake, covered, at 325° for 1 hour and 20 minutes. Uncover and bake 10 minutes longer or until a knife inserted near the center comes out clean. Let stand 10 minutes before serving.
