Silver White Layer Cake

  • 2 1/2 cups cake flour, sifted
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups shortening
  • 1 cup milk, separated
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 4 egg whites
DIRECTIONS
  1. Mix all dry ingredients; add shortening and 1/2 cup of the milk.
  2. Beat for two minutes. Add remaining 1/2 cup milk and the egg whites.
  3. Beat two minutes longer.
  4. Turn into two 8-inch layer pans .
  5. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes.
  6. Cool and frost with your favorite frosting.
